TIBETAN RUGS

Entire families from villages in Tibet and Nepal are involved in making Tibetan Oriental Rugs. One rug can take as many as 3,500 hours to complete.  Tibetan rugs generally contain the wool of Himalayan sheep, which has high lanolin content.  They are recognized from their very rich colors and rustic patterns as well as the variations of color and texture.

  • Rugs from this origin are known to have a Chinese influence.
  • They commonly feature designs based on religion or nature.
  • The color palette is usually constructed of bright and intense colors.
